Sensor Mounting

The TrainSpeed sensors require that two holes (#20 or 5/32") per sensor pair be drilled through the roadbed and sub-roadbed, a specific distance apart (see below).  The sensors are then inserted in these holes from beneath the layout.

Sensor Spacing

The TrainSpeed sensors can be placed 1/50, 1/100, 1/200 or 1/400 of a scale mile (or Km) apart.  The spacing for most popular scales is given in this table:
